"Good Boy" Deqlan says, as he puts his 3 and 4 piece puzzles together! So lovely to hear!

Aiylene , Deqlans teacher says she encourages Deqlan when doing a task , but saying Good Boy , as do we, and now he has also decided to tell himself how wonderful he is when completing a task!

Deqlans imaginary play is soaring! Nanna introduced Deqlan to the Prince and Snow white, two figurines Megs bought her back from Disney World. He is very taken with these two characters, and even makes them hug each other. Deqlan also has another 2 fireman that he loves interacting with, makes them look at each other and touch each other etc!

Deqlan is also making actual flight and wing movements with a plastic butterfly and making sounds of the car , when playing with them, appropriately!

He also discovered that you could pretend cars to be coaches behind a train, and loves to position Thomas and Percy with their 'car carrages" behind them.

I attended a sensory workshop Wed night hosted by Deqlans occupational therapist Anneke , and learnt so very much. Children with Autism have definite issues with their senses, as well as vestibular and proprioception senses, which have to do with movement and parts of their bodies. Alot of red flags or inappropriate behaviors are triggered by one or more or even all of these being over stimulated or under stimulated. If we are able to help Deqlan self regulate and find things that bring him into the middle of the two , which is the calm alert state, he is alot calmer and alot more open to learning in this state.

I must say , i realised last night how many of Deqlans red flags for Autism have disapeared or only peak their heads out once in a very blue moon. Deqlan still loves to line things up , especially cars , but the toe walking, the spinning, eating sand, licking metal gates has all disapeared! So i believe with Deqlans therapy sessions, his amazing school , the diet, the vitamins, the prayers and love, we are on the right track to helping Deqlan reach his full potential. Thank You Lord for leading in the right directions and giving us the ways and means to help Deqlan and the most amazing Mom and Dee whom without, this wouldnt be possible!
