Giardia lamblia

Forgot to mention in our last post, that Deqlan was not 100% last week - thought there may be sinuses brewing so took him to Dr Anne to make sure.

Ag, she is just so amazing with Deqlan, she just "gets him" and he 'gets her' . Deqlan does everything she asks him to do - Dr Anne actually chats to Deqlan and not to me!!!

Anyway, she thought his sinues were not to bad, but was more concerned with the shocking nappy Deqlan had while we were there. She decided to take a sample and the lab stick immediately confirmed presence blood and puss - she said it could be linked to his leaky gut , but her money was on a tummy bug.

Dr Anne sent the sample away to the lab, but she put Deqlan on an antibiotic in the mean time to try and get rid of the bug. Deqlans Nappies definitely improved over the weekend and we heard nothing from the lab, so we presumed they didnt find anything. Just got a call from Dr Anne who says that they picked up Giardia Lambli again - the same bug Deqie had in Feb, when we took him out of swimming lessons. He definitely hasnt been swimming in this weather, so the other most likely place of picking it up, is from some one at school

This means, new antibiotic for Deqlan, for 5 days - this means two antibiotics in the course of 1 week = not good for candida! Deqlan is already a lot more frustrated today, crying, not eating, doing alot of the same things over and over - so i think candida has flared up from first antibiotic, and i cant imagine what this second one is going to do....we will start diflucan immediately after the last dose of this new antibiotic we have to start today....he was so miserable at school, the teachers say they have never seen him so unhappy ....


Please pray that we can knock the socks out of this bug and that we can control the candida, that Deqlan feels alot better soon and that we can help him through this frustrating patch where he doesnt feel well !
