Im honored to know angels on earth - im supporting Spain tonight,esp Ferrando Torres who took the time to phone our friend who is fighting neuroblastoma, Connor Gerber today. He told Connor they are playing the match for him, and that Connor is his new hero.

This means more to Connor then any world cup could to any country, Nina, i am honored to know you. Connor, you remain in our prayers, you are a super hero!

Now , you know we have mentioned before that we think Deqlan is reading, well, now we are pretty sure its not just words he recognises, he is actually reading!

Just a few seconds ago, Deqlan picked up a brasil, wrist band and read B-R-A-S-I-L, 'Brasil"

Then he looked at his biscuit packet and said 'HAPPY COOKIES'

last night he took a book that comes with the love and learning kit, and read every single sentence or word ' I HAVE A SOCK' 'PLEASE MAY I HAVE A COOKIE' and on we went!

We have been so very blessed to have found keys to unlock Deqlans world of autism and in the right order. We really , really believe that the diet was the groundwork for all the therapies, going to school, dvds etc - if it was done in any other order, it may not have worked - but the diet got Deqlans mind ready to learn - we have been so blessed, there are so many families who try everything, who give up everything, who big steal or borrow to try every treatment and therapy , i pray that they to are also lead to the right keys!!

Mark is currently at the Brazil vs Portugal game the hotest ticket of the tournament so far...i know he is going to have a ball, GO BRAZIL!!!

Please say extra prayers for Deqlan this morning as he goes for his 6 monthly check up



He will have ultrasound at 0830 and then blood taken afterwards. We ar trying to do the urine collection before we leave home this time



Please pray ultrasound is totally and perfectly clear and normal as it has been and will always be, please Lord. Please pray for this to be as smooth and easy as possible for Deqlan , please pray for results on 2 July to be perfectly normal normal normal and that Deqlan remains NED forever and always

A great report

so we are on school holidays for 5 weeks while the soccer world cup takes over South Africa! it is wonderful not to need to rush as much in the mornings to get to school in time, and sleep in a little longer especially in this freezing cold weather! But i reckon by next week Deqlan will be missing his beloved Little Leaps



Deqlan got a beautiful "report " for term 2. we are so grateful for the great leaps Deqlan is taking each day. There are lots of improvements from the first team report and definite new things deqlan can do! There are some that he doesnt like doing , but can do if he has to!!



When he was eating his rice last night he said ' MEATBALLS, RICE, CANDICE' i think he remembers Candice feeding him this meal at school! Deqlan is now a lot more confident at feeding himself , we dont have to keep reminding him as much, especially when its food he loves like chips or rice! he happily picks up the spoon and feeds himself!!! we are very chuffed at this, as we used to have to feed Deqlan , especially food thats not his favorite, to ensure he was eating! Go Deqlan!!!!

More on our fabulous Deqlan soon ! right now sleep time and hoping its a draw between mexico and france to help keep bafana dream alive!

please say an extra prayer for Deqlan tommorow morning as he goes for his 6 monthly ultrasound and blood and urine collection - we get results 2 July. Please pray for scan to continue being perfectly normal and blood and urine perfectly normal and for our Deqlan to remain NED always

OUR FIRST WORLD CUP EXPERIENCE DENMARK VS NETHERLANDS 14 JUNE 2010

quite an experience walking between 84 000 fans! i had to hold on tight to marks hand so i didnt get left behind, but it was awesome to be a part of it!

it was unreal, the first step out into the stadium - i felt like i was in a video game with the vuvu's blowing and people cheering and watching the game, it was outstanding to say the least - cant wait for Sunday night brazil vs ivory coast!

i was SO excited!!!

The traffic was herendous - took us 3 hours to get there, normally would take half and hour ! besides everyone pushing in in front of each other and the way there and back, we had entertainment in the form of the fans and we saw the dutch bus and the Korean bus on the same highway yesterday!
